And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Bangkok Trip Part 4

4th Day: 31 Mar 2008

First stop: Wat Pho/Grand Palace
Both are unmissable majestic sights. It's amazing how the ancient people could build such exquisite and extensive architecture with their limited technology. We almost couldn't make it to the Grand Palace as there was some ceremony going on which allowed only Thai people. The Wat Pho starrs the Reclining Buddha which is so huge that it takes about 2 minutes to walk from his head to his feet. The Grand Palace of course, is where the King had his coronation, but he doesn't live there though. Both places are sacred joints so all visitors are to be properly covered, i.e. no bare shoulders/legs/feet. Do be at the Grand Palace early though as the ticket office shuts at 12-1pm. PS: We bumped into Taiwanese artise Jiu Kong and his girlfriend at the Grand Palace! Catch him in the pics!

2nd stop: More shopping at Platinum Mall and Pratunam Centre

3rd stop: Coran Spa
Hubby and I had a hard time looking for a much-needed spa treatment (esp. after all the walking!) we wanted but we were lucky enough to find this one within walking distance from our hotel. The Coran Spa was celebrating its first anniversary and all packages were at half price! Impressed by the classy exterior decor and attractive prices, hubby and I decided to give it a shot and we were totally spoilt by their masseuses. It was a dark, tranquil haven for full body treatments, whereby Hubby and I took the "Deep Forest" treatment package which include a full body scrub and a 2-hour full body massage. The masseuses' powerful hand strokes applied pressure skillfully on our bodies for full relaxation, although there were times when the pressure was a little beyond our threshold. I was momentarily stunned when I saw the masseuse standing on Hubby's leg.

Last stop: Q Bar
The stylish joint is right opposite our hotel and we were pleasantly surprised that our hotel was having a joint promotion with them such that all its guests were entitled to free entry. Thus, Hubby and I changed up quickly after our spa to check it out. It was a Monday night so it was hardly surprising that there wasn't a bad crowd. Music was jazzy with a solo performance by a trumpeter. The decor was sleek and a little Victorian meets modernistic, making the ambience rather enjoyable. Despite the small crowd, I must say that their behaviour was rather open as many foreigners had their arms wrapped around their Thai partners, of which one pair included a lady boy.
