~A New Life~
It was really rather overwhelming when I saw this picture 'cos it simply felt so real. It's an ultrasound scan of my colleague's baby girl-to-be. As the picture clearly shows the baby's head, hands and feet, I can't help but feel happy for my colleague.
I'm sure most of us have seen such a picture on tv, in books, on the net before, but to actually hold the ultrasound picture this close, is something quite different. I can almost imagine what it feels like to have a life in your tummy.
Life is an amazing thing, yet ironically, it can be so tiring that people seek death. 22 years ago, I probably looked exactly like that picture. In these 22 years, have I lived beautifully? Have I lived such that I brought joy to others and myself? Or have I spent more time in sorrow, bringing unhappiness to people? Have I made the pain that my mum suffered during that 9 months worthwhile?
Someday, I hope to have a picture of my own tummy like that too. A picture taken in the presence of the one who shares a part in it, the one who I will spend the rest of my life loving, the one who will grow old with me....
And that the lil' one will do me and him proud...

~Nohohons~

I've finally managed to collect all 8 of the mini Nohohons! I have spent lots of one-dollars at various capsule machines in the east and town, just to collect them all. I almost got tricked into spending more $1s 'cos the yellow and orange one was so alike! But anyway, looking at their smiley faces somehow destress me. The one next to the blue one even glows in the dark! They just look so adorable and peaceful.

These Nohohons probably look familiar to you as their cousin, the Hidamari No Tami is a hit with local toy stores. Below is one of it.

I did a search about the Nohohons and here's what I got:

Nohohon is a fist sized bobble head figurine made by the Japanese toy company Tomy. They are distinguished by a large spherical head with smiley mouth and dot eyes. Unlike traditional bobble head dolls that bobble when poked or moved, Nohohons are powered by a small solar panel. As light shines on them, they gently sway their heads until the light source is removed. The primary function of the dolls is to relieve stress from its viewer. This makes them especially popular as desk nik-naks and in offices.
The name Nohohon comes from being part of a group called Nohohon Zoku (Translated meaning nonchalant family.) There are three different types of Nohohons: Hidamari No Tami (Sunny People) have the ability to hold a business card sized piece of paper. The second type make soothing nature sounds such as waves or wind. The third, Hanauta No Tami (Humming People) are able to sing and dance when operating.

The ones I got can't do any of the above, but they're cute enough to make me happy, especially since most of them were turned out of the capsule machine with my "life-sized Nohohon". *winks*

For those alike me who can't get enough of this amazing little toy, here's some links for more information about them.

I now officially proclaim myself a Nohohon fan!

Calamity Kelly

I have no idea why but it seems that (freak) accidents are particularly attracted to me. I guess its probably 'cos I have poor eye-hand/leg coordination and lousy motor skills. I didn't play enough Lego / "Fit-the pieces" kind of game when I was young, I suppose. I trip over wires, fall off chairs, hit my head on the cab while trying to board it, slip off the stairs, walk into doors/pillars, you get the drift. Such things happen at least once a day to me. Today was lucky, but I had the disgusting experience of stepping on a lizard and unfortunately, killing it. Just a few days ago, I was stepping on millipedes. Sighz. I should mourn.

Anyway, I got that sprained right ankle about two weeks back when I fell off the office stairs and then my flat's stairs again the next morning. It didn't really swell up but it hurts when I try to arch my feet backwards. The chinese physician downstairs said that I probably pulled a muscle at the back of my ankle, so she gave me a good (painful) massage, stuck "ko-yok" on it and bandaged it up. The most troublesome thing was to keep it dry while bathing. To make matters worst, it had been raining the past few days and I really did consider "water-proofing" it by walking around with a plastic bag on the right foot.

The good thing? I get to wear my birkies to work plus, I get piggy-backed by my most willing escort. ;) So it ain't that bad, really.

Enjoying Jan 2007

I haven't had the time to blog much for the past week, especially since work is getting more challenging by the day. Thank goodness I always manage to find ways to unwind with my loved one and of cos' other great company.

For the past week, I've been to:
-Tampines Ikea
The place is HUGE and I really enjoyed making myself at home there. *winks*

- Johor Bahru
It was an enjoyable trip with great food and company. I bought a pair of really nice shoes and got the "haircut of my life" 'cos it took four hours of waiting! And well...it was an extremely special day by miracle of my momentary courage to do something really sweet for my loved one. =D

-Century Square
We caught "The Painted Veil". Nice show with some real purpose that reflected some issues to ponder about.

-Geylang
Yup, I just got back from there after a good supper of Tim Sum with laughter.

I shall let the pictures speak for themselves of the above. Enjoy and let's all look forward to the Chinese New Year soon!

~Love Is~

I guess most of you probably know by now that "A Lot Like Love" is one of my all-time favourite movies. Imagine my ecstasy when I got this lovingly made poster which featured him and me as the lead cast!

Just that the title of this movie should be: Love Is...

There is nothing better than a perfectly good friendship...to begin a great romance.

Celebrating New Year in the Heartland
Somewhere on the top floor of a HDB block, 1 Jan 2007 0000
2007 welcomed me with the prettiest sight, not 'cause I saw the ships on the sea fired the flares into the sky and floating down altogether...but because it was YOU who brought me to share such an amazing sight with me...
There were just the two of us, staring into the skies...2007 couldn't have started with a better taste.
