And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Bangkok Trip Part 3

3rd Day: 30 Mar 2008

First stop: Siam Paragon
Things here are pretty expensive, as you could probably have guessed it from the name. So unless you're into designer stuff, I find it a location not really worth going to.

2nd stop: Siam Centre/Siam Square
They are oppositie each other and can be reached via the skytrain (i.e. our MRT). The really funky boutiques with young designers however, are opposite the 2 buildings at Rama 1 road. WIth cool labels like"God's Absent", "Perfect Combination", "POEM" , you'll be spoilt for choice. I stopped by Felice for some delicious Gelati on a comfy couch as well.

3rd stop: MBK
Real huge mall with great variety of clothes, shoes, accessories, mobile stuff. Price is higher than Platinum though. They have great tailors here at reasonable price which are worth the effort to make yourself a suit or two.

4th stop: Jim Thompson House
Jim Thompson is the one who made Thai silk world famous. Apparently, he went for a hike once to the Cameron Highlands and never returned. His house in Bangkok became a tourist attraction as it documented his journey to fuse Asia with his English background. His collection of antiques and interior design showed an interesting cultural mix of Thailand traditions with modern England. Do google about him and be intrigued by his biography! And oh yes, do take the guided tour if you do visit this place.

5th stop: Spring & Summer Restaurant with Winter Bar
Spring serves main courses. Summer serves pastries. Winter Bar's desserts are to-die-for!
What can I say? If there is only one place in Bangkok to go to, this is it!
Mod, airy, chic, clean-lined 70s house rolling a funky modern Thai resto and a saucy chocolate/coffee bar into one scrumptious whole. It gives alfresco dining a whole new meaning. When you can lie on leather cushions in a big lawn to enjoy your meal, watching the stars and nightsky whilst listening to great music and relaxing in the night breeze, you'll probably think you're in paradise.
